Chore support is practical, non-medical help with the tasks that keep daily life running: grocery runs, prescription pickups, errands, mail and paperwork sorting, organizing, and light seasonal jobs around the home. It is the service for seniors who are managing fine day to day but losing ground to the to-do list.
Havenwood Care provides chore support throughout Hartford County from our office in Farmington. We are locally owned and Connecticut licensed (DCP HCA #0002903), and because of our affiliated transportation company, errands are not limited to what a caregiver can carry: your loved one can come along, in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle if needed.
Or call us. We will explain your options and exact pricing in one conversation.
Chore support is usually the right fit when the person is doing well but the logistics are slipping:
Driving has stopped, or should. Groceries, the pharmacy, and the bank do not stop needing visits just because the car keys are retired.
The errands fall to you, every weekend. If your Saturdays have become your parent's supply runs, chore support gives you your weekends back without anything falling through the cracks.
Mail and paperwork are piling up. Unopened envelopes are how missed bills and missed appointments happen. A weekly sort keeps life administratively on the rails.
The seasons keep coming. Swapping wardrobes, putting up and taking down decorations, tidying the porch, bringing the air conditioner units up or down from the basement. Small jobs, real obstacles.
Clutter is creeping. Closets, counters, and spare rooms that need organizing hands and a patient afternoon.
Here is what makes our chore support different: your loved one does not have to stay home for it. Through our affiliated transportation company, we arrange wheelchair-accessible rides so errands become outings. Picking out their own produce and chatting with the pharmacist they have known for twenty years is independence, and we protect it.
We are caregivers, not contractors, so we stay off ladders and away from anything that risks injury or requires a license: no snow removal, gutter cleaning, heavy lifting, repairs, or yard machinery. If a job like that comes up, we will tell you plainly and help you find the right local service rather than doing it badly.
Chore support rarely travels alone. Most families fold it into homemaker visits (meals and housekeeping plus the errands) or companion care (company plus the to-do list). One caregiver, one visit, everything handled.
It starts with a phone call and, honestly, usually a list. Tell us what has been piling up and what happens every week, and we will tell you what a sensible schedule looks like and exactly what it costs, in that first conversation. Then we build a simple written plan, match a caregiver you approve, and the list starts shrinking, usually within the same week as the assessment.
Most chore support runs as part of a weekly visit routine. Standing errands (groceries Tuesday, pharmacy Friday) happen like clockwork, and the occasional bigger job, like a closet reorganization, gets scheduled as a longer visit.
Most agencies make you sit through a sales visit to hear a price. Here are ours:
| Shift Length | Rate |
|---|---|
| 2 to 3 hour visits | From $65/hour |
| 4+ hour shifts | From $34/hour |
| 8-hour shifts | From $30/hour ($240 per shift) |
Chore support is billed at our companion-level rates. Rates are starting points, confirmed in your first phone call. A 10-hour weekly minimum applies to hourly care, which is why most families combine chore support with homemaker or companion visits in the same week. Visits that include hands-on personal care are quoted at our personal care rates.
Most families pay privately. Long-term care insurance may cover chore support when it is part of a broader home care plan; we help you verify benefits and provide the documentation your insurer requires. We can also help you understand whether Connecticut programs such as the Connecticut Home Care Program for Elders (CHCPE) may apply to your loved one's situation.
Wheelchair-accessible transportation through our affiliated company turns supply runs into outings.
Based in Farmington, not a franchise call center. The person who plans the visits answers your calls.
